Your first appointment allows us to gain some valuable information about yourself.

You will be greeted by our friendly Precision Smiles team and asked to complete various forms regarding your contact details and medical history.

Please arrive around 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow plenty of time for this to be done or complete these forms online prior to your visit.

We shall then invite you to discuss your views and raise any concerns you have about your teeth, smile, bite and/or jaws. We will also assess what you would like from your orthodontic and dental treatment.

A thorough examination of your face, jaws and teeth will then be undertaken as well as any necessary radiographs (x-rays), photographs and impressions (moulds/ scan of the teeth) for study models. These records help diagnose problems with the bite and allow for the best treatment plan to be formulated to make the teeth straight, improve the bite and create a beautiful smile.

The various customised treatment options available for you will be discussed, including the differences between NHS and independent treatment and if you qualify for NHS funding. This appointment will provide information about the innovative systems to straighten your teeth to decide what treatment would suit you best. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like!

In some cases, it may not be the right stage for treatment as there are still deciduous (baby) teeth present and further growth is going to occur. We shall then ask you to contact the surgery to review the teeth when they are ready.
