For patients who want or need the strength and reliability of traditional metal braces, but with a more subtle appearance, ceramic braces can be an excellent option and a discreet alternative to metal braces.
They use tooth-coloured brackets designed to blend in with your smile, giving your teeth a more seamless appearance despite the braces.
How do ceramic braces work?
Ceramic braces function the same way as metal braces and attach to the front surface of your teeth. An archwire is inserted into the brackets which provide pressure on your teeth, encouraging them to move into a more desirable position. As the treatment progresses, your orthodontist will tighten the archwires, applying more gentle pressure to the teeth.
What are the advantages of Ceramic Braces?
- Designed to blend in well with your natural tooth colour providing a more cosmetic solution to straightening your teeth.
- Ceramic is a strong material that doesn’t usually chip or break.
- They move your teeth just as efficiently as conventional metal braces – with the special difference that they are much less noticeable.
